Reply of the Delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran
to the statement by the Israeli Regime & UAE
Before the 4th Committee, UNGA 76
New York, 3 November 2021
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
Madam Chair,
Occupation and racism of Israel lies at the heart of all conflicts in the Middle East. The repulsive Israeli occupation has brought a tremendous amount of suffering, caused a multitude crises and sown vast instability and anger throughout our region and continues to be the top spoiler of regional peace and stability.
It is indisputable that such a long, dark catalogue of crimes and atrocities, such as state terrorism and crimes against humanity, and its frequent encroachments against the countries of the region poses a uniquely grave threat to regional as well as international peace and security
Against this backdrop, it is absurd that the Israeli regime now try to hide their daily atrocious acts behind their empty rhetoric against other countries.
It is obvious that their propaganda against my country has always been a smoke screen released by them to mask their heinous acts and to divert governments and international public opinion from their land grabbing schemes and other crimes.
The General Assembly, as the collective conscience of the international community, has a vital responsibility to condemn Israel’s military aggression and its ethnic cleansing and adopt necessary measures to hold Israel accountable for its war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Madam Chair,
I would like to remind the representative of UAE that the three islands of Abu Mousa, the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb have been an integral part of Iran for thousands of years and remain to be so.
The UAE delegation is trying to abuse this august body in order to advance its political interests in the Persian Gulf region by raising unfounded claim, which is in fact, irrelevant to the work of this Committee. No claim, no matter how many times it is repeated, can dent or undermine our determination to refute such claims.
The Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to continue its bilateral talks with the United Arab Emirates with a view to removing any misunderstanding that may exist between the two countries.
The UAE is called upon to fully observe the principle of good-neighborliness, to respect international law and to avoid policies and practices which undermine peace and security in the Persian Gulf region.
