On Draft Resolutions L.50 and l.60 respectively on:
“No first placement of weapons in outer space” and
“Transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space activities”
First Committee, UNGA 76
New York, 1 November 2021
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
Mr. Chairman,
I have taken the floor to explain the position and vote of my delegation regarding two draft resolutions, namely: “No first placement of weapons in outer space” and “Transparency and confidence-building measures in outer space activities” as contained in documents L.50 and l.60, respectively.
While my delegation will vote in favor of L.50 and l.60, I wish to put on record that our previously announced position on them, remains valid. Furthermore, Iran’s participation in the consensus on this document should not be taken as its support for report of the Group of Governmental Experts as reflected in the OP 1; the group was limited and selective and Iran was not one of its members.
I thank you, Mr. Chairman.
