Reply of the Delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran

to the Statement by the United States and the United Kingdom

Before the Third Committee, UNGA 76

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Mr. Chair,

We strongly reject the unsubstantiated allegations raised by the United States, the UK and Canada. The U.S. is the country that assassinates others outside its territories, the example of which was the cowardly assassination of Major General Qassem Soleimani, a true human rights defender for the entire region. Therefore, it is in no position to accuse us on alleged exterritorial measures which have always been rejected and condemned by my Government.

The representative of the UK seems to be not interested at all in reviewing Britain’s dark history in my country. The UK is well aware of its coup in Iran. It has left a trail of death, destruction and hunger in my country. We never forget the United Kingdom’s destructive role in my country.

The child-killer Israeli regime, which violates the rights of Palestinian people on a daily basis, is now siding with Canada and lecturing us on human rights. What a bitter irony!
