Agenda item 67: Rights of children

Mr. Cahir,
Unprecedented set of challenges and global shifts, including in the area of technology that children face today were once unimaginable to their parents, leaving families more worried now than ever before. This is why the particular areas of parenting and technology must receive more attention. Even though technology enhances numerous aspects of our lives, including education, we must protect kids from all of its associated risks. Due to the ease of access to certain platforms, children have become increasingly vulnerable to human rights violations.
As a party to the CRC and ratifying its Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, Iran believes in addressing the root causes and risk factors that contribute to the exploitation and sexual abuse of children, including through the digital environment. To keep children safe in this environment, Iran adopted in 2021 a highly critical national document on Protecting Children and Adolescents in Cyberspace.
I thank you.
